Many years ago they brought out a new science fiction movie on TV. It was somewhat different to anything that had been brought out before. It was a movie called Star Trek, and it caught the attention of many people including myself.

I can remember seeing this movie as a child. Or I may have already been a young teenager by that stage. But whatever age I was, I remember that I was fascinated with it.

One of the things that fascinated me the most was the weapons that they used. It was the first time I had ever seen somebody using a laser gun in a movie. 

We had heard about the laser; about this powerful light that goes forth and can destroy things. But nobody had ever before put forth the idea that you could actually make a gun that could fire a laser beam. 

It was really something to see them take this gun, charge it up and just pull the trigger. And 'pow' that laser beam would hit the target and have devastating results. 

I was fascinated with it. I never really did know how it worked, but it just seemed so feasible that such a thing could be possible.

God's Power Like Laser Beams

As I grew up and moved into spiritual things I often came to see the power of God as a laser beam. As I looked out one night when there was thunder and lightning, I saw the lightning come shining out of the sky in a blast of power. 

I thought, "That is just like a laser beam. It is raw energy and power, and when it hits it is devastating. There is such power there." 

I began to build a picture up in my mind that the power of God is like a laser beam. It is raw energy like a lightning bolt. If somehow we could just harness that power, and call upon it when we needed it, what results we could obtain. The power would be devastating. 

As God taught me the principles that I have been sharing in this book, I began to realize more and more that there is a laser beam of God's power.

God has placed within us the ability to tap into and use that power, and to send it forth into the earth against a problem. 

We have been looking at the forces and the power that is in the recreated spirit, due to the presence of God's Holy Spirit. We have seen the force that can be released to go forth from the spirit of man. 

We have been looking at ways that this power can be released. In that last chapter we looked at how we can build a template or a picture for that power to go forth and produce a creation in the earth.

In this section now I want to look at how we can charge that power up, just like a laser, and release it against the problems in our lives and the lives of others. We can release it into situations to bring about a change and a positive effect.

How Lasers Work

I used to love science when I was younger, but I never really got to study much about lasers. It was a very new technology. 

You probably know that laser stands for 'Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation'. In effect, it means making a light beam become stronger and stronger; amplifying the light. That is what it amounts to. 

I dug in the encyclopedias to look for something there about how to make a laser. I wanted to see whether I could extract some kind of spiritual truth out of it, and I found out that actually the principle is very simple.

A laser is created using a crystal, a light beam and a couple of mirrors. It sounds quite simple doesn't it? Perhaps you will go out and make a laser after this. 

Well it is not that simple, but the principles are. What happens is you take a particular material such as ruby. This is the most common one that is used.

If you send a light beam through a ruby crystal, as that light energy passes through the crystal, it causes an excitation of the atoms of the ruby and those atoms begin to vibrate. When this takes place they release further energy, and that energy is released in the form of light. 

As the light beam goes through the crystal, it causes another light beam to be created. You now have two light beams. You place a mirror at the end of the ruby crystal and bounce the two light beams off the mirror so that they go back again through the crystal. 

You now have two light beams going through the crystal. And as they go through the crystal, guess what they produce? Another two light beams.

When they get to the other end of the crystal we put another mirror there, so that we now bounce four light beams back through. Are you beginning to see the picture? 

Take out your calculator and find out how big the number gets after the light has passed through the crystal several million times, bearing in mind the speed of light.

Each time that light beam goes through the crystals it causes further excitation in the crystal, and it causes further light beams to be put forth. 

What you have now is an amplification of the original light beam. It is getting bigger and bigger. Each light ray is totally in phase with the others so that they are at the peak of their power.

When the wave goes up they are all going up together. And when it goes down they are all going down together. They are perfectly in sync and perfectly in phase. 

What you have is a phenomenal amount of energy contained in millions of light beams. The longer you allow this to take place the more that energy builds up, until you have a highly amplified and highly concentrated ray of light. 

Then all you do is make a hole in one of the mirrors at the end, so that instead of reflecting back, the light beam shoots straight out into the earth. You have a laser beam. It is that simple. 

There are a few important things that you need to bear in mind however.

Firstly you will need to have a ruby crystal to start with, and you will also need a light beam. Then you must let the light beams go backwards and forwards for a while in the ruby crystal before you release the final light beam. 

If you release it too soon you will have a bright light, but it will not be anywhere near the power of the laser. It would not have grown to the intensity that could burn a hole through metal. There is a time period during which the laser is charging up. 

As I began to look at how I could use this for a spiritual illustration, the Lord showed me to look at a few other natural phenomena that work in a very similar way. So I will mention all of them first, before I show you how we can apply them to spiritual things.

Hurricanes

Living where we are in Mexico, we do not see terribly many hurricanes, but we have had a pretty close shave with some. I feel sorry for those poor people who live in the Caribbean and some of the hurricane belts, where these hurricanes and tornadoes pass over the land and create devastation. 

You often hear about it in the news. There are phenomena like El Niño which comes in cycles, bringing with it intense winds and power. And all the time you hear about high and low pressure, cyclones and weather terms that most people do not understand.

How is a hurricane formed? Again I do not know the scientific things. But I did learn that somewhere along the line there comes a mixing of two different types of wind.

Sometimes a cold and a warm wind begin to mix together and blend together. When they do they form a small whirlwind.

As they continue to mix together they begin to gather in speed, and they start to churn up and grow in power. And now your whirlwind becomes a hurricane. 

You have this swirling power of air. It is just air, but just like light is harmless by itself until it becomes amplified, so air is harmless until it becomes amplified and gains in momentum.

When this happens you have a powerful force, which when it moves, causes destruction wherever it goes. 

The Atomic Bomb

I also looked at another marvelous power that man has harnessed in recent decades and in our lifetime. That is the power of the atom bomb. 

Phenomenal power is released instantly when an atomic bomb is triggered. All that man had to do to make it happen, was to learn how to split the tiniest particle of matter that you can get - the atom. 

So how do you make an atomic bomb? Well there is a lot involved, but let me give you in basic terms a way of starting an atomic reaction.

You take a material that can be used for that particular operation, and you bombard it with very high-speed particles. 

You send these high-speed particles at that matter. And as the particles hit that matter and bombard it, the atoms in that matter begin to split. When an atom splits you have pieces of atom flying everywhere. 

When those pieces of atom fly everywhere, they begin to hit the atoms next to them. Then those little pieces of atom cause the atoms next to them to split in the same way.

And so begins what is known as a chain reaction, and nuclear fission begins to take place. A tremendous amount of energy is suddenly released, and that energy can be used to create the atomic bomb.

It can also be used to generate electricity and to do a lot of good things. It is a phenomenal amount of energy from a small amount of matter; a sudden powerful release of power and energy. 

All these illustrations look very similar don't they?

Underground Streams

There is one more source of power that is available to us. This one is slightly different because it is a natural resource. I am referring to an underground stream, or water flowing underground in the rocks at high pressure and high speeds.

All you need to do to tap that power is to drill down into it until you hit that underground stream. Then the water comes gushing out. 

You can do it with oil too. You have to drill down until it comes gushing out.

Putting Them Together

All of these are illustrations that picture the power of God. Let's look at them very quickly. 

Making a Spiritual Laser

Did you know that you have a ruby crystal inside of you? It is in your spirit, and all you need to do to excite that crystal is to give it a ray of light from the Spirit of God. 

As the light goes through your spirit, it begins to get excited and it lets out a little power. Then as you let that power go back and forth, a charge begins to build up. If you leave it to build up for long enough, it can be sent forth with devastating effects. 

Jesus said: Whoever will say to this mountain, Be removed, and be cast into the sea; and will not doubt in his heart, but will believe that those things that he says will come to pass; he will have whatever he says.

That is a powerful laser beam. It will wipe that mountain out. The energy that is in our spirits is very powerful amongst those recreated forces of faith, and hope and love. 

Making Spiritual Hurricanes

How about the hurricane? You take the wind of the Spirit that is within, and you seed it with the Word. The Word was also inspired by the Holy Spirit and it is filled with God's nature. 

As you mix those two together, a wind starts to stir. A whirlwind starts to move and a hurricane starts to build up.

The power begins to rise up within your heart and spirit. It is a mighty power of the Spirit of God just waiting to be unleashed upon the earth, to go forth and destroy the works of darkness. 

It can be made to come against your problem, to remove it and cause that mountain to be blown away. 

Making Spiritual Atom Bombs

You can take and use the little particles that are available in the Word. You do not need everything from Genesis to Revelation. All you need is a few particles.

You get them going at high speed and bombard them into the piece of uranium you have inside of you, and you will start a chain reaction. A nuclear reactor will start to churn inside of you. There will be a release of power like you have never known before. 

Using Your Underground Stream

Jesus said that the Spirit of God would be like a spring of water within us. He said: Out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water.

You have an underground stream inside of your spirit. All you need to do is drill down and sink down a pipe, tap that power and get it gushing out.

How do you drill down into your spirit, and how do you get it out? Paul gives us a bit of a hint in 1 Corinthians 14:4 when he says: He that speaks in an [unknown] tongue builds up himself.

How does speaking in tongues build you up?

We have seen that speech comes from the spirit. We have seen that when by an act of your will you speak forth words, you are actually tapping some of the resources that are in your spirits. 

Do you realize something? When you pray in tongues, as you allow the Holy Spirit, through your spirit, to flow out through you in words that are inspired by Him, you are actually tapping into the very power of Almighty God. 

A flow starts to take place, but you have to drill down a bit first and you have to sink a pipe in. You have to pray in tongues and get into the Word. You have to meditate on the Word and think on it, just like you do with your laser beam.

You take that Word and you pass it through the ruby crystal once, twice, and again. You take the promises of the Word of God and you fit them to your lips, and you speak them again and again. 

Each time you speak that Word it goes into your spirit. Your spirit says, "Yes," and it puts forth a bit of power. 

You take it and you push it back through your spirit again. You say, My God provides my needs.

Glory! The power begins to charge up. Speak it forth, send it out, think about it and visualize it. Put that template in place that we spoke about in the last section. Apply it to your mind, emotions and your will. 

See the answer in your mind. Desire it and feel the assurance. Put your fullness into it - your emotions, your feelings and your desires. Throw everything into it, until you can taste it, smell it and touch it; until it becomes real to you. 

The charge begins to build up and the laser beam gains in power. The hurricane begins to swirl and the nuclear reaction starts to take place.

You drill down into your spirit and break through that solid rock. And you tap into the power that will gush forth from your spirit.
