Somebody asked a famous sculptor once, "How is it that you can take a solid piece of rock like that, chop it out and sculpt it into a beautiful angel?" 

He said, "It's easy; all you do is chop away the pieces that aren't angel." 

See the Picture

He had a picture in his mind of what he was going to make. He went to work with the tools that he had, and he created according to the template that was in his mind.

If you do not have a picture in your mind of what you are asking God for, of what you want to create by the power of the Spirit, then where will you even begin? 

But we come to the Lord in prayer and say, "Lord, please bless me." 

I can see the Lord pulling out His box of templates and patterns there and saying, "Sure, what kind of blessing would you like?" 

"Well Lord, that's up to you. I just want to be blessed." 

The Lord says, "I've got millions here. Which one do you want?" 

"Well Lord, nice ones." "They're all nice. Which one do you want?" 

"I want a big one, Lord." "What kind? Now we're getting somewhere." 

"Okay Lord, I would like financial provision. I would like to be blessed financially." 

He says, "That's wonderful. How much do you want?" 

"Oh well Lord, I'm too humble to tell you how much to give me. That's up to you." 

The Lord says, "I have all you need. How much do you want?" 

You can't just go up to somebody and say, "Could you give me some money?" 

If they are prepared to help they will pull out their wallet and say, "Sure, how much do you want?" "Oh, whatever you feel like giving me." 

"Okay, here is five cents." You say, "But that's not fair." "Well, you said, 'Whatever.' " 

We do the Lord that way sometimes. We come to Him and just ask Him for blessings. He tosses us a nickel or a dime and then we want to complain.

Well you did not tell Him what you wanted. You did not have a picture of what it is that your spirit was going to create.

Using Mind, Emotions and Will

Your mind has to be involved. Do you know why? Because the power of your spirit has to be released through your soul, through your body and into the earth. 

The power of the Spirit has to come upon the physical creation, and before it can do that it has to come out. And if it is to come out, it is going to come out via your soul, and via your body and into the earth.

Then those forces of faith, hope and love will go forth into the earth. They will move upon the physical creation and they will make something. 

There are three functions that are there in your soul - the mind, emotions and will. So if the forces of the Spirit come out, they will come out through your mind, emotions and will. 

You have to start with your mind. You must have a picture of what you wish to create when that energy goes forth. Your desires, your feelings and your emotions must be part of it. You must earnestly desire this thing.

You can be sure that a sculptor is not going to stand there for weeks on end, chopping away with his chisel on a great big hunk of granite, if he doesn't feel like it. There has to be a driving force. There has to be a motivation and an excitement about it. 

Desire is Important

There must be an earnest desire where you say, "I want this and I can't live without this. I must have it." 

It must also last a little longer than a day, because it takes a bit longer than a day to create. Your emotions have to be involved in this. 

I hear people saying, "Well I don't really want anything. I'm happy with what I have. But if the Lord wants to bless me that's up to Him." 

It is not going to happen for you, because what blessing God gives He put into your spirit. Remember we saw that in the beginning when I shared the Scripture, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us...

He put it in your spirit. The energy and the force of your spirit have to be released to bring about that creation in this world. If you do not earnestly desire it God is not going to force it on you. 

If you are happy with nothing, then you will remain with nothing. God is not going to impose blessings on you that you do not want.

He already gave them to you in spiritual essence. If you do not want to take that spiritual essence and use the recipe to make it into something that you can use, then you will just sit with the ingredients and die with them. It is entirely up to you. 

God has given you a free will and free agency in the earth. If you think that it is unspiritual for you to want things, and you would rather just serve the Lord in poverty, then you will stay a pauper.

Maybe you think that God is glorified in you walking about in pain all the time and you want to remain that way. Well then you will die with that sickness and disease. 

God has placed in you the spiritual essence, to create your healing and your provision. But if you do not want to use it, God is not going to impose it on you.

You must earnestly desire it. And you must feel within that you want this thing to be manifested in your life. 

Using Your Will

Your will also has to be involved. How is your will involved in releasing the power that is in your spirit? You do it through the faculty of speech. 

Remember that we saw that spirit and words are linked together. We saw that when He created, the Spirit of God hovered over the creation and He spoke forth words.

We saw that God made man in His own image, and gave him the faculty of speech which the animals do not have. 

Speech and spirit are linked together. When you open your mouth to speak, what you speak comes from your spirit within.

Did you know that every time you open your mouth to speak, those very words didn't come from your mind, but from your spirit? 

Try an experiment. Just say something and have a good look at where those words came from. Did you think in your mind, "I… am… going… to…" just like a computer? 

No you didn't. You had a concept in your mind. You had a thought, a picture or an idea, you opened your mouth and spoke your heart.

Calling It the Way It Should Be

Romans 4:17 says: As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, [even] God, who gives life to the dead, and calls those things that are not as though they were.

What does God do? He speaks words, and the words that He speaks are not based on what you can see with your eyes. He calls it the way He wants it to be. 

Do you remember when Jesus was called to go and pray for His friend Lazarus? He stayed a few more days, and when He eventually went Lazarus had died. Jesus said to His disciples,

"Our friend Lazarus is asleep and we will go and wake him." 

The disciples said, "Hey Lord, if the guy's tired let him sleep. What do you want to go and wake him up for?" 

They did not know that Jesus was talking about the fact that he was dead. Jesus had to eventually come down to their level and say, "Listen, he's dead." 

But Jesus would not see it that way. As far as He was concerned, Lazarus was only asleep. 

He did the same with Jairus' daughter. They were all weeping and wailing at the house and saying, "Oh she's died." 

Jesus said to them, "Stop your wailing; she's just asleep." 

They said, "How dare you say that! You know she's dead." 

Jesus refused to call it the way it was. He called it the way it was going to be. He spoke words that came straight up out of His spirit. If only we could learn to do that. 

If we could only learn to say, "By His stripes I am healed," instead of, "Ouch." 

If we could only learn to say, "My God has provided my need," instead of, "I just don't know what we will do."

Painting Positive Pictures

The way your soul responds will determine what kind of power will come up out of your spirit. Often the picture in your mind is one of negativity. You feel a pain in your chest and what is the first thing you think? 

You think, "Oh no, my heart; I'm going to die." 

That is the picture in your mind. That is what you are creating. Somebody says, "How are you feeling?" 

You say, "I've been suffering so much. You don't know what it is like. Nothing helps. Oh, it's terrible. I just don't know how long I can go on this way. I hope I make it through the month." 

You will probably die because you just created it. You felt it, you thought it, you saw it and you spoke it. That is the template you gave to your spirit. 

You said, "Spirit, this is the template I want you to work with. Put me in hospital and let me die. Have them take away my house, my car and everything. Make sure that I have no money. Make sure that there is no provision and that my kids starve." 

That is what you told your spirit. It is the template that you offered to your spirit, and your spirit is quite obedient. It says, "Well I can't understand what you want to do this for, but hey if that's the template you are giving me, let's go to work." 

Do you understand what I am saying? You need to build good, Scriptural templates. You need to build the kind of template that the power of the Spirit can use, to create something meaningful and something that is a blessing in your life.

Creating According to His Will

There are a few things you need to know before you start. Firstly you need to know that what you want to create is the will of God, because the Scripture says, If we ask according to His will He hears us.

So before you can even begin to release the power of your spirit, to let the Holy Spirit work through you to accomplish and create in the earth, you had better know that He wants to do it. You had better know that it is the will of God. 

How are you going to find out whether it is His will or not? What if God got out of bed on the wrong side this morning and maybe doesn't feel like giving it to me? I am just so glad that God is not a man, aren't you? 

God has told us what His will is. He has been quite verbose about it too. It takes us a while to work through all of it. Most people never bother getting through all of it.

That is why they do not know what His will is. They did not bother reading it. It is His 'Last Will and Testament' and He cannot change it. He has put it in writing. 

When you put it in writing and sign on the dotted line it becomes a legal document and you cannot take it back. You cannot change your mind afterwards and say, "Oops, I made a mistake there. Can you just scratch that?" 

It is too late. It has been recorded. 

God's Word Always Stands

God will never go back on His Word. If you want to find out the will of God you need to read His Will. If God's Word says, My God shall provide your needs, then He is planning to provide your needs. 

If God's Word says, By His stripes you were healed, He meant you were healed. 

If God's Word says, You have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, He means to back it up.

He is not going to change His mind. He has given some promises, and when God gives a promise He will always keep it. But I hear people saying, "Well maybe it is the will of God that I don't get healed right now." 

Then God is a liar. 

"Maybe the Lord wants me to battle in poverty." 

Then He is a liar in terms of His Covenant. You can look way back in the Scriptures where He offered His Covenants to man all the way through.

Go and read Deuteronomy 28 and see what your blessings are. It says, "You will be blessed coming in and going out. Your barns will be so full you will have to make them bigger.

Everything that you set your hand to will be blessed. You will be the head and not the tail. You will lend to many nations and never borrow. 

That is your blessing.
